Recycling Information

You can find information about the city's Recycling Program right here.

Recycling has become more popular as the concern for the environment has grown. Recently the Indianapolis Recycling Program has made a change that re- places the small red recycling totes it previously used with much larger blue and gold cans. These containers hold quite a bit more recycling and reduce the amount of recycling that is blown out and into the street. This program is offered through the city and Republic Waste Services at a modest cost. See the Sustain Indy website for more information. If you prefer to avoid the service fee for having your recycling picked up, but would still like to recycle, there are several “drop-off” locations where you can take the items yourself. A list of locations can be found here. The nearest location to our neighborhood is Sahm Park, 6801 E. 91st St.

With the new curbside recycling boxes you may have seen in the neighborhood, there are some new rules. You may be surprised to find that the program accepts more items than you thought. The following is from the Republic website FAQ (IndyWaste.com). You may have seen in the paper lately that the city of Indianapolis is considering a new free recycling program as part of its Sustain- Indy program. We will post the new information here as soon as it is known.
